They are small, salt water forage fish. Lives in Marine, brackish water, at depth of 20 -50metes. Grow up to 15cm. Schooling species occuring in coastal waters and esuarine waters. feed on zooplankton. Body light transparent fleshy brown, with silver stripe down flank. used as bait in tuna fisheries. Snout is blunt with tiny, sharp teeth in both jaws. They live in schools. They have silver longitudinal stripe that runs from the base of the caudal fin. They range from 2 cm to 15 cms. Pelvic fin tips reaching beyond dorsal fin orgin; anal fin origin below last dorsal find rays Colour light transparent flesh brown, with a silver stripe down flanks; back with a pigmented areas behind head and a double pigment line before dorsal fin origin.
